How to Use Your SEVAS Water Catcher
Everything you need to know to make the most of your water-saving ritual
So you’ve unboxed your SEVAS, welcome! Whether you’ve been saving water for years or this is your first time thinking twice about what goes down the drain, we’re glad you’re here. Below, we’ll walk you through exactly how to use your SEVAS water catcher so you can start making a big impact with one small, daily habit.
Step 1: Place it before you turn on the shower
Place your SEVAS under the shower head before you turn on the tap. Make sure the drain plug is open so water can drain easily into the tank.
To open the drain plug, push down firmly with your foot for it to pop up and open. This has been designed to use your foot, so you don’t have to bend down. Don’t worry if it’s hard to open at first, it will loosen up.
Please DO NOT REMOVE THE PLASTIC SEAL. This is in place to ensure the lid does not leak when placed on its side.
Depending on your water pressure, positioning the unit just slightly off-centre from the main drop zone can help direct more water into the catcher and avoid splash back.
Step 2: Go gentle on the tap
No need to blast it! A lower water pressure saves more water and captures it more efficiently. Let the shower run while the water warms up.
Step 3: Hit your perfect temp? Time to shift
Once the water hits your ideal temperature, gently slide SEVAS out of the water stream. Give it a second to let any pooling water flow in, then push the plug closed to seal the tank.
Step 4: Store it neatly
Tilt the unit on its side using the two handle grips and tuck it away beside the shower or wherever fits your space. No need to lift a heavy, overflowing bucket, this part was designed for ease.
Step 6: Knowing when it’s full
You will start to get a feel for when your water catcher is full by lifting it and seeing if the water is no longer pooling when lying flat. Every shower is different, some are full after one use, others it takes a few showers to fill up.
Step 7: Clean with care
Every now and then, give your SEVAS a wipe out with an eco-friendly, gentle cleaner. No harsh chemicals needed. Just a quick rinse and it’s ready for another round.
A daily habit that adds up
Saving 3 to 5 litres of clean water every time you shower may not seem like much, but over a year, that’s up to 1,800L. That’s the power of doing something small, every single day.
